In the late twentieth century, traditional post-war havens like Canada and Australia hosted the vast majority of Dutch expats seeking wide-open spaces and fresh starts. This pattern shifted dramatically as European Union integration deepened, making it easier than ever to live and work seamlessly across the continent. Today, populations in distant overseas destinations are slowly shrinking, replaced by a modern wave of professionals and retirees settling in vibrant European economies and growing hubs like Turkiye.
