Today, Indian emigrants primarily settle in Gulf nations and Western countries, driven by a mix of economic ambition and established diaspora networks. Millions of workers and professionals are drawn to places like the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia for lucrative career opportunities. Meanwhile, English-speaking countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada attract massive populations seeking world-class education, skilled tech jobs, and long-term settlement.

In the early 1990s, the largest population of Indian-born emigrants lived in Pakistan due to the lingering legacy of Partition, though this aging demographic has steadily declined. Over the past three decades, the focus shifted dramatically toward global economic hubs as India integrated into the world economy. The rise of the global tech industry and international trade fueled a massive surge in migration to North America, Australia, and the Middle East, with destinations like the United States and the United Arab Emirates now hosting over three million Indians each.
